Point Cloud
A points cloud is an array of points in a system of coordinates. In a system of three-dimensional coordinates, these points are denoted by X, Y, and Z, and are intended to represent the external surfaces of an object. The scans can range from small elements to space cells of a few kilometers.
point-cloud can be created as a product of 3D scanners. These devices measure a large number of points on the surface of the object, and often produce a data file containing the point cloud. Each point has spatial information such as coordinates but can also contain additional information such as color, temperature, and more.
point-cloud, which is the output of 3D scans, is used for many purposes, including creating CAD models for parts manufacturing, metrological control, quality control, and a variety of other applications.
